Community, Art and Education as empowering engines for social change ZUMU – “the museum on the move” – was founded in 2016 and has since produced large-scale, community-based exhibitions across Israel. Our model is built on collaboration with local communities, municipal authorities, local artists and educational partners. Together we curate and create place-based projects rooted in community art and education. We believe art, culture and education are empowering forces for social change and bridges between parts of Israeli society. We work to build a flourishing, sustainable society with wide access to creativity and innovation. ZUMU specializes in creating spaces that spark dialogue and drive change, with extensive experience working with communities in crisis. As a field-based organisation – from initial research to public presentation – we prioritise listening, dialogue and fostering environments that enable social engagement. We combine curatorial and artistic expertise with the ability to embed in local contexts and amplify community voices.
