Youth Futures is a holistic, community-based intervention program that supports Israeli children growing up in challenging circumstances, helping them overcome obstacles and realize their potential. Established in 2006, the program was created to reduce social gaps and strengthen the fabric of Israeli society by providing early, sustained support to children and their families in underserved communities. In the aftermath of the October 7 terror attacks, the need for Youth Futures’ work has become even more urgent, as children and parents across Israel cope with trauma, instability, and profound loss while striving to rebuild resilience and hope. For nearly two decades, Youth Futures has worked with tens of thousands of children from geographically and socioeconomically peripheral communities. Today, the program reaches approximately 18,000 direct beneficiaries each year, including children, youth, and their parents, across 61 communities throughout Israel. Youth Futures serves all sectors of Israeli society, including Jewish Orthodox, Arab, Druze, and Bedouin communities, reflecting a deep commitment to inclusion and social cohesion. In recognition of its impact and professionalism, the Israeli government recently designated Youth Futures as a national program for the rehabilitation of children in the post October 7 reality, an announcement made during a formal ceremony at the President of Israel’s residence. Youth Futures is distinguished by its comprehensive, community-centered approach. Each child is supported by a trained Mentor who works closely not only with the child, but also with their family, school staff, and relevant professionals in the community. This model ensures that interventions are tailored to the child’s unique needs while strengthening the support systems around them. The program also addresses what is often described as the paradox of social services, whereby families who could benefit most from public services are frequently those least able to access them. By building trust, improving familiarity with available resources, and strengthening parents’ skills and confidence, Youth Futures helps families navigate systems that might otherwise remain out of reach. Youth Futures operates within a strong and stable framework, supported by long-term partnerships with government authorities and philanthropic organizations. The Ministry of Education funds approximately 15 percent of the program, while local authorities contribute an additional 30 percent, reflecting their recognition of the program’s vital role in their communities. The Jewish Agency for Israel provides ongoing institutional and financial support, reinforcing Youth Futures’ capacity to operate at scale and with high professional standards. Decades of close collaboration with local authorities have laid the foundation for the program’s national recognition and continued expansion. Overall, the Youth Futures budget represents a balanced partnership between philanthropy and government support, combining sustainability with a shared commitment to creating meaningful, lasting change in the lives of Israel’s children.
