The Abarbanel Medical Center for Mental Health was founded in 1944 in Israel, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health. The hospital is well known in the field of mental health, thanks to its vast experience and the fact that it serves a population of 1,000,000 people from the cities of Bat Yam, Holon, Tel-Aviv, and the surrounding areas. There are 300 – 350 individuals hospitalized at any given time, some staying for shorter durations and others for longer, with a yearly turnover of approx. 3,000 patients, not including the thousands who are classed as daily, or outpatients. All suffering from various mental health illnesses, from adolescents through adults. Yedeedei Nefesh Abarbanel was founded in 2019 as an association of friends to support the well-being of those treated at Abarbanel. Yedeedei means Friends of, but Yedeedei Nefesh means soulmates. Yedeedei Nefesh Abarbanel sets the goal of tearing down the walls between the hospital and the community, changing the stigma regarding the mentally ill, and caring for the welfare of patients and their families. This integration has proven to promote the recovery process; therefore, it is a priority for us to consider the wellbeing of visitors and to encourage their visits to the hospital. Yedeedei Nefesh Abarbanel is dedicated to the welfare of the Abarbanel community, caring for those often hidden from view the invisible people. We strive to provide them with a pleasant, well-maintained environment and the highest quality of life within the hospital.
