Yad Mordechai Museum and Yad Mordechai’s Tekumah Projects

The Yad Mordechai “From Holocaust to Revival” Museum, opened in May 1968, covers Jewish history in the Diaspora and Eretz Israel during the early twentieth century. Designed by Arieh and Eldar Sharon—a project honored by the International Association of Engineering and Architecture—the museum was conceptualized by a team led by Abba Kovner. It uniquely contrasts past tragedy with the surrounding vibrant kibbutz landscape, symbolizing continuity. Located at Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, named after Warsaw Ghetto Uprising commander Mordechai Anielewicz, the site honors members of Hashomer Hatzair who later fought in Israel’s War of Independence. The museum continuously updates its exhibits and educational methods to reflect new research and modern heritage interpretation.
