The Wilfrid Israel Museum which was founded in 1951 was the first museum in Israel to exhibit East Asian art. Recently the museum has been focusing on a humanistic and multi-cultural approach, which draws its origins from the character of Wilfrid Israel himself. The museum offers a permanent exhibition of East Asian art from the museum’s collection alongside exhibitions of contemporary artists both from Israel and from the Far East. The museum, situated in the center of Kibbutz Hazorea is assisting the kibbutz in its effort to strengthen and train its local emergency squad during the current war and in favor of an unknown future. HaZore’a is a kibbutz in northern Israel established in 1936 by German Jews. It is the only kibbutz that was established by members of the Werkleute [de] movement. Located in the western rim of the Jezreel Valley, it falls under the jurisdiction of Megiddo Regional Council. In 2021 it had a population of 1000. The horrific events that unfolded on the 7th of October 2023 surprised the “kitat Konninut” (Emergency Squad) of the kibbutz; in just over a few hours, the head of domestic security of the kibbutz among other important members of the community, were drafted to the Israeli Defense Army (IDF). As a result, the kibbutz had to reorganize its emergency squad to protect itself and get ready for any potential threats and risks. The war that erupted thereafter, found the kibbutz emergency storage empty and ill-equipped to safeguard the community. In fact, it was so underequipped that it did not have sufficient and critical weapons and ammunition, logistical and medical equipment to use in case of a missile attack on the kibbutz among many potential scenarios. The proximity to the West Bank upholds real and dangerous threats to kibbutz hazorea and we aim to bolster, strengthen, and train our local emergency squad for now and for the future. Through your donation, we will be able to purchase vital equipment for our emergency squad, equip its members to deal with serious security threats, to protect our community and people, and ensure that kibbutz Hazorea will continue to prosper and grow as a home and community in the state of Israel.
