Since 2002, Timora has developed four distinctive models of therapeutic education for youth at risk. They are all havens away from a sometimes-troublesome past, and enable our adolescents to heal and prepare for life: Yiftah,a residential home for boys; Mahol, a residential home for girls ; Na’ale technological school for Haredi boys; and Neve Sraya, a residential home for boys. Timora reaches out to youth at risk, typically aged 15-18, and provides a nurturing environment to guide and empower them, thereby transforming their lives. Timora enhances the students’ sense of competence, and enable them to renew their bonds with family, find their place in the community, and embark on a new and better path. In all four frameworks, Timora applies a three-pronged strategy, working on education; family and community; and integration in the next stage of life. In addressing education, we help our teens complete their formal education and finish high school. Towards this, students’ confidence in their ability to succeed is reinforced, and they are taught life skills for future success. Work in the family/community level is geared to helping them find their way back into their own families, which serve as foundations for lifelong stability and individual progress. Finally, we strive to enable participants to integrate into the frameworks of the next stage in their life, including the IDF, higher education, and the workplace. Gradually, self-esteem, independence, and personal identity are carefully rekindled and developed. Supported by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Welfare, Timora is highly respected in the educational community and is a beacon of light for educators and professionals nationwide. With 90% of Timora’s graduates enlisting into the army or civil service, this is a success rate that proves the immense impact Timora is making on Israeli society.
