Theater Company Jerusalem’s (TCJ) goal is to create and perform dramatic productions which combine ancient Jewish sources with modern theatrical techniques to reflect the Jewish experience in general and Jerusalem’s historical and cultural context in particular. TCJ performs for young and old, religious and secular, city dwellers and those living in peripheral areas, and many more. In addition, a number of the works are in English, which makes them more accessible to new immigrants and tourists. Its second objective is to use performing arts as a means of facilitating social change at a grass roots level. This is primarily implemented through community-based educational theatre projects that serve a variety of underprivileged populations. It also mentors and develops young performing artists and offers educational programs in school and universities.
