Founded in 2007, Tevel B’Tzedek is dedicated to promoting social and environmental justice. Its mission is to create a community of Israeli and Diaspora Jews engaging in the urgent issues of global poverty, marginalization, and environmental devastation from a place of deep commitment to the Jewish people and its ethical and spiritual traditions. Participants in the flagship program engage in learning and social action through a four or one month program in Nepal with the aim of coming back to Israel and creating a network of social and environmental activists and activism. At the same time, its permanent Nepali and Israeli staff maintain and develop, together with local partners, ongoing projects in the fields of agriculture, human rights, education, women’s and youth empowerment, and health aimed at lifting the communities it works with out of poverty.
