Tech4Cancer is a nonprofit that aims to accelerate life-saving breakthroughs in cancer research by combining Israel’s tech excellence with leading oncological researchers. We envision a future where innovation shortens the path to medical discoveries, further positioning Israel at the forefront of the global fight against cancer. We do so by working with cancer researchers from leading institutions to analyze their key roadblocks and bottlenecks, and then assemble joint projects with teams of volunteers from the tech industry to develop tailor-made software solutions that advance their research by saving time and energy, thus allowing the researchers to focus their time on tasks where their professional genius and acumen is mostly needed. Born from the Personal experience of Gal Avital, a two-time breast cancer survivor, and Idan Megidish, a social entrepreneur and former philanthropic fund manager, the initiative was founded on a clear insight: while oncology faces immense technological bottlenecks, Israel’s high-tech ecosystem offers world-class capabilities that remain largely untapped in cancer research. Tech4Cancer systematically bridges this gap. To date, Tech4Cancer supports 15 active projects with Israel’s leading research institutions, including Sheba Medical Center, the Weizmann Institute, Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University, and Clalit Health Services, alongside emerging partnerships with the Technion, Ichilov and Soroka Medical Center. Several projects have already achieved validated scientific breakthroughs and academic publications. We are currently expanding partnerships with additional medical centers and universities, with a strategic goal of supporting 50 research projects within three years.
