Established in 199, and officially recognized as an organization (‘Amutah’) at 2010, our organization was centered in the heart of the suburban Katamonim neighborhood in Jerusalem. For many years this area was largely deserted as many families left to newer neighborhoods in Jerusalem. As a group of young academic families, we intended to establish a young intellectual community combined with the local families, whom were leaving and aging in this unique neighborhood. Shortly after our arrival, dozens of young, academic, and religious families followed. Since then, we have been a major influence on the uprising of a synagogue, an elementary school, a youth group, and many kindergartens. Many local activities are regularly performed, including community gatherings for holidays, national memorials and celebrations, charity activities, lectures, women activities and other cultural and educational events. Over the past few years, we have felt the need to establish our organization in a community center, including a synagogue, which will perform mainly as a prayer hall and community gathering center. This building will have a hall which is intended to house lectures and classes, educational activities, celebration hall for the neighborhoods Bar-Mitzvah, bris and others. Today, our Amutah comprises 80 families who completely pay their dues and are involved in the neighborhood. An additional 30 families are part of our congregation but participate only partially in our activities. Altogether our congregation includes 500 members.
