Today, a new generation of Israeli heroes is facing the daunting reality of sudden disability. At Savyonim, our mission is to ensure that for these soldiers, a physical injury never leads to a life of isolation. With 4 ambulances and 75 volunteer drivers, we stand alone as the only organization in Israel providing free, 24/7 specialized transport for any purpose. Dismantling the barriers to mobility, we ensure that our wounded can reach any destination at any hour. We distinguish ourselves by eliminating red tape; with a single one-minute phone call, a wounded soldier receives a human response and the peace of mind that they can get exactly where they need to go, without the wait. The transition from the battlefield to civilian life is a second war for those who have lost limbs. We place a specialized emphasis on supporting amputees, recognizing that reclaiming independence requires more than just a prosthetic?it requires the freedom to move. Whether it is a critical rehabilitation appointment, a private physiotherapy session, or simply a night out with friends to feel “normal” again, we’re here for them. We provide the dignity of choice, allowing these courageous men and women to travel to weddings, family gatherings, or even the ocean?completely free of charge. While our priority remains our wounded heroes, our mission extends to all who are homebound. Savyonim remains a vital lifeline for Holocaust survivors, elderly patients, and individuals with chronic illnesses, ensuring no one is trapped by their physical limitations. Savyonim’s work also extends far past the driver’s seat. We’re committed to creating an embracing community for wounded soldiers through personal mentorship and unity events that foster a sense of belonging and alleviate the psychological pain of being homebound.
