Ohel Tefillah – Neve Shamir is a community synagogue and nonprofit organization serving the residents of the Neve Shamir neighborhood of Beit Shemesh. The organization provides a framework for daily prayer, Torah study, religious education, and cultural and community life, including holiday and community events such as Lag BaOmer, Hanukkah and Purim celebrations, as well as outreach and charitable assistance to local residents and families. The organization’s income is used primarily to cover the rent and basic operating expenses of the premises in which the synagogue operates; the organization was allocated land by the Beit Shemesh municipality and is working toward the construction of a permanent synagogue building. Through these activities, Ohel Tefillah works to strengthen community ties and provide an accessible religious and communal center for the residents of Neve Shamir.
