National Library of Israel

For 120 years the National Library of Israel has collected, chronicled and preserved the richness of Jewish intellectual life and cultural productivity. Serving as prime repository of national memory of the People of the Book, the Library is also a focal point for the historical and cultural heritage of Israel’s diverse social landscape. A vibrant center of knowledge, research and study for students, scholars and visitors, the Library’s comprehensive collections of Judaica, Israel, Islam and the Middle East and Humanities are a continual source of fascination and learning. With over five million books, manuscripts, periodicals, archives, maps, photographs, and audio recordings in its care, as well as the largest collection of publications in Israel, ongoing preservation and conservation ensures access and enjoyment by future generations. A dynamic in-house educational and cultural events program of lectures, seminars, concerts, workshops and guided tours engages the Library’s myriad treasures with a wide-ranging audience.
