NATAN is a leading Israeli NGO dedicated to provide Relief and Rehabilitation after Natural or Man Made disasters around the world. Natan-International Humanitarian Aid has aspired over the years of activity to fulfill fundamental values of respect for the individual to life, pursuit of liberty, the right to a secure life, food and shelter and freedom of expression. Abie Natan, an iconic Israeli humanitarian , provided the inspiration to the organization that bears his name, and attempts to realize these goals by integrating resources and capabilities through providing humanitarian assistance to any individual in need whether in Israel or throughout the world. Natan works to mobilize capabilities, resources and areas of expertise by organizations and individuals through the utilization of the relative advantages of Israel as a center of knowledge and experience in emergency relief. Natan consists of a cooperative platform of Israeli humanitarian organizations which mobilizes resources for both natural and man- made disasters. Natan’s missions in the field are exclusively composed of professionals volunteering to share their experience and skills. Over the last 13 years Natan has been active in disaster areas including Sri Lanka after the Tsunami, Georgia after the war with Russia, Haiti after its catastrophic earthquake, the Philippines following typhoon Yolanda and in Nepal. In these areas of disaster Natan sent out tens of missions providing medical aid, psychological support, community resilience development and establishing the basis for future cooperation with international organizations. Natan has provided primary medical care to those in need as well as psychosocial training, provided by volunteer Israeli doctors, medical personnel, social workers and psychologists. As a rule Natan works with other NGO’s, local and foreign, with the philosophy of “capacity building” as a major tenant to its raison d’etre. As a result of many security events in Israel, Natan has developed specific knowhow in a psychosocial approach to population in stress or trauma. Over the last two years Natan has been engaged in a totally different context, that of providing Medical aid ,Psychosocial Assistance , Education and Community Rehabilitation to some of the thousands of refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran who have been flowing into Europe from different points on the globe. Natan has located itself in Serbia and in Greece and with the cooperation of local NGO’s has provided aid to thousands of migrants and refugees. Natan has incorporated among its volunteers both Israeli Jews and Arabs in its medical and psychosocial teams; a unique combination among all participating NGO’s which enhances Natan’s ability to make a difference.
