Founded in 1979, the Masorti Movement in Israel is a traditional, egalitarian religious movement in Israel, affiliated with the worldwide Masorti/Conservative movement. It is guided by halakha (Jewish law) and an open and pluralistic approach to contemporary scholarship, Jewish living, democratic ideals and Zionism. The Masorti Movement in Israel operates many educational programs: adult and children’s learning programs, the NOAM youth movement, a Bar/Bat Mitzvah program for children with special needs, community batei midrash (study programs), and more. Legal advocacy is also one of the central roles of the Movement. It represents the religious rights of Masorti and Conservative Judaism before the Israeli establishment, including government ministries, the Supreme Court and municipalities.
