The Movement for Freedom of Information is one of Israel’s oldest and most influential civil society organizations dedicated to advancing transparency, public oversight, and democratic accountability. Established in 2004 by journalist Raviv Drucker along with leading legal and academic professionals, the organization was founded to promote the principles enshrined in Israel’s Freedom of Information Law and uphold the public’s right to access information. Our mission is to expose information of public interest, make it accessible to civil society and the broader public, and utilize it to drive policy changes and raise public awareness. Transparency enables public scrutiny, fosters civic engagement in government actions, helps prevent corruption and institutional decay, and promotes values of accountability among decision-makers. Through Freedom of Information requests and collaborations with civil society organizations, journalists, researchers and public authorities themselves the Movement for Freedom of Information advances institutional transparency and sets new standards for proactive data disclosure in Israel. Our work promotes not only public scrutiny but also assists government bodies and local municipalities in digitizing and releasing information in ways that strengthen accountability and better serve the public
