Moreshet Avraham provides at-risk young female adults with shelter and residence including emotional, practical and financial support. Programs and activities include: Residential living quarters for at-risk young adult women; one-on-one and group guidance, talks, listening to the girls’ feelings, concerns and needs while helping them set short and long term goals; twice-weekly enrichment classes providing training and guidance towards independent living, including various subjects such as: career assessment; pre-marital training; home management e.g. budgeting, cooking, banking, shopping, home maintenance; self-empowerment; interpersonal and communication skills; social, emotional and spiritual encouragement and support; referrals to psychiatric, psychological and other professional treatment for past abuse and other challenges; job placement accompanied by practical and emotional support as needed in order to ensure success; referrals for vocational/academic training along with moral support, reflecting firm belief in each girl’s potential to succeed in her chosen field; helping girls find appropriate marriage partners, guiding and mentoring them through the dating process, arranging the weddings and helping them set up homes; helping repair family relationships: reuniting daughters with parents; fun activities monthly trips, swimming, outings, week-long summer vacation; marking individual milestones such as a tete-a-tete restaurant meal with the program director to celebrate a birthday or a new job; creating a special, festive atmosphere each Shabbat, all the more so, during holidays.
