Midreshet Shuva Judiac Studies Center

Midreshet Shuva Judaic Studies Center was established in 1984 by Rav Moshe and Rabbanit Rivka Shapiro in the settlement of Ofra, which is located thirty minutes north of Jerusalem and twenty minutes south of Ariel. Our primary aim is to offer young women from Israel and abroad, a year of spiritual and personal growth in preparation for the many challenges to be faced as they build their adult lives as Jewish women. Studies at Midreshet Shuva take place in a dynamic and experiential environment, taking advantage of Torah and academic sources, offering optimal support to each young woman in the process of self-discovery. The student body is comprised of 50 young women from a wide variety of backgrounds, from cities, small towns and kibbutzim, from religious or non-religious homes, high school graduates or post army or national service, living in Israel or abroad. This colorful student body, representing the full range of our society, allows for a true exchange of ideas and meaningful learning. Scholars of many fields teach courses at Shuva: Torah, philosophy, music, coaching, creativity and more. In addition to our teachers, the staff includes families, which accompany the students, and dorm counselors who are “on call” 24 hours a day to help with any problem that may arise. In addition to the course schedule, Shuva offers a range of extracurricular activities. These include educational trips and hikes, creative workshops, weekly evenings at the accompanying family’s home, evenings of music and monthly Shabbatot, which our students help prepare.
