Since 2019, Jerusalem Food Rescuers has been transforming a broken food system in our beloved city; one where 40% of edible food is wasted, even as 1 in 5 residents face food insecurity. From the heart of the Jerusalem Wholesale Market, we rescue over 10 tonnes of fresh high-quality surplus produce each week. In partnership with community networks that span the diverse demographic spectrum of Jerusalem, we redistribute the food through community-led networks that uphold dignity and choice, reaching thousands of families each week. Through food rescue, education, and policy change, we are building a just, sustainable urban food system rooted in equity, resilience, and civic engagement.
