For over forty years, Melabev, a non-profit organization in Israel, has provided essential and specialized activities to older adults with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Melabev’s Services: Day Centers Melabev’s four day centers are multi-lingual Hebrew, English, Russian, French, and Arabic. According to each person’s skill level, cognitively and physically, the specialized activities are adapted by culture, language, particular needs, and interests. Keeping one with cognitive and memory impairment engaged in meaningful activities at their skill level will help slow the progression of their decline. Day center participants receive two nutritious meals daily. Melabev provides daily safe, dependable, and comfortable round-trip transportation to ensure the participants easy travel to and from their day center. Young-Onset Dementia Program Persons aged 65 and younger The program addresses cognitive decline, memory disorders, and language impairments associated with various forms of dementia, but in a context for otherwise healthy and mobile individuals. The participants enjoy specially designed activities according to their cognitive ability. Melabev-at-Home This service is an in-home therapy program for persons who cannot attend a cay center logistically or because of frailty. Melabev provides therapeutic services in the home. Each situation requires a case manager( social worker) overseeing the therapies and offering advice and support to the primary family caregiver. Melabelv for the Family- This service is geared toward the community of caregivers. It consists of an extensive array of Zoom online sessions offering practical suggestions and solutions for family members, some of who, for the first time, are caring for a person with cognitive and memory decline. The sessions are conducted by professionals in the field of aging, with Q&A time following the speaker. Telephone Reassurance Volunteers make friendly How are you today calls to persons living alone to check their well-being and needs. This service is free and offered to anyone wishing to register.
