Mamatcal is Israel’s only nonprofit dedicated exclusively to supporting the spouses of IDF reserve soldiers near home. These women are the backbone of Israel’s home front, forming a resilient network of home front fighters who support one another in a powerful sisterhood. With only 165,000 married reservists serving, many spouses experience loneliness amid their responsibilities. Our close partnership with the IDF Reserve Manpower Branch ensures we align with the needs of reservist families across all ranks and units. Our Mission: Founded in 2023 by 220 spouses of IDF reserve commanders, Mamatcal is dedicated to supporting these families and strengthening Israel’s defense community. Through local sisterhoods led by trained community coordinators, we foster solidarity among families facing similar challenges. . While their partners are called up for training or active duty, these spouses face unique challenges, balancing careers and family life while managing the emotional toll of extended separations. Together with their children, they cope with the stress and anxiety that come with long, uncertain deployments and the fear for their loved ones’ safety. We have created Mamatcal local women’s communities throughout the State of Israel. These women “Civil fighters,” defending their lives on the domestic and personal front. Like their husbands, they come from all segments of the population, initiating inter-community meetings and fostering inclusive dialogue, while building strong friendships and mutual support for better future for their kids and Israel society.
