Founded in 2004, **Ma’ase Center** is a leading Israeli nonprofit dedicated to advancing social responsibility, active citizenship, leadership, and equal opportunity among young people from all sectors of Israeli society. Through volunteering, leadership development, and social entrepreneurship programs, Ma’ase empowers participants to become engaged citizens while promoting economic mobility, tolerance, and shared civil society. Ma’ase operates more than 20 gap-year, National Service, pre-army, and leadership programs serving Jewish, Arab, and Druze communities throughout Israel. Its programs reach more than 65 communities, where participants volunteer in formal and informal educational settings, benefiting approximately 22,000 children, youth, and adults each year. Key initiatives include pre-army leadership programs for youth from Israel’s geographic and socioeconomic periphery, leadership development within Arab society, academic and employment preparation, specialized programs for Druze youth, community volunteer programs in high schools, and dialogue initiatives that bring together Jewish, Arab, and Druze participants. Ma’ase also operates a unique program that prepares talented young adults from underserved communities for careers in Israel’s public sector. Across all of its programs, Ma’ase promotes dialogue, social cohesion, civic responsibility, leadership, and equal opportunity, helping build a more inclusive, resilient, and democratic Israeli society. Following the events of October 7, 2023, Ma’ase mobilized more than 1,200 volunteers who served in over 50 emergency centers across northern and southern Israel. Working together across Jewish, Muslim, and Druze communities, volunteers provided critical assistance to affected populations while reinforcing the organization’s longstanding commitment to partnership, resilience, and mutual responsibility during times of national crisis.
