Loving Classroom was born out of a deep concern about spiraling levels of disunity and a need to prevent the fall-out of toxic discourse, violent confrontation, the demonization and the objectification of others through hatred or selfish personal gain. Loving Classroom is a schools’ program of Positive Relationship Education in which the classroom develops into a caring community. Students learn to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, validate and understand those of others, discover their potential role in life/society and how they can live meaningful lives. The program cultivates social conscience, compassion and kindness towards others, with no one being left out or diminished. Its unique 4-H methodology (Humanity, Head, Heart, Hand) produces a holistic depth and breadth that is impactful in behavioral transformation within the classroom and beyond (at home, within families and in the community). The program highlights 8 foundational virtues of respect, compassion, listening, kindness, gratitude, love, friendship and care, and is replete with practical exercises and engaging activities in a simple, step-by-step, accumulative program of love engineering. Loving Classroom Israel trains school staff in the Loving Classroom method and curriculum, so that teachers can facilitate the program in 32 lessons, over the course of one (sometimes two) school years. Versions of Loving Classroom are available for both primary and secondary education, with material for the students and the teachers. In Israel, Loving Classroom is a recognized Ministry of Education external program under its Maarechet Gefen, as well as a professional enrichment program (hishtalmut). Four years of independent professionally evaluated study has shown this program has reduced bullying, violence, prejudice, and a host of other harmful behaviors amongst school students, by a remarkable 80%. Meanwhile, class cooperation and academic achievement are boosted in an environment of kindness and wellbeing. These remarkable results were recognized by the Schengen Foundation in June 2024, which awarded Loving Classroom the Luxembourg Peace Prize for outstanding education.
