Latet – Israeli Humanitarian Aid was established in 1996 and is devoted to assisting populations in need in Israel and around the world on a universal and equal basis. Furthermore, it is dedicated to propulsion and active involvement of the Israeli civil society in the humanitarian field, raising social awareness, inspiring mutual obligation and philanthropy, and actively working to diminish poverty. Its programs include distributing monthly food packages to some 60,000 needy families across Israel (via a network of 150 partner local nonprofit organizations), raising public awareness to the plague of poverty and hunger, a service-learning program for 1,500 at-risk teens (12-16), provide support and financial aid for Holocaust survivors, medical aid for those in need, a microfinance project aimed at assisting underprivileged women, international emergency relief, and more.
