Kidum Tifkudim works with 3 elementary schools in Tamra to identify and treat children with learning and behavioral difficulties including ADHD, illiteracy, violence and more. We also work with adolescents and adults. We run training sessions for kindergarten teachers and sends therapists into schools to work with groups of children on special learning activities and to give specific behavioural therapy to individuals. The main work of Kidum Tifkudim lies in their after school program, which includes a light supper for those children who come straight from school. There are three stages to the process. At first, a child will receive a diagnosis based on where their difficulties lie and where they show developmental delay. This is a holistic and personal diagnosis that takes into account family circumstances and living environment, as well as their physical and academic progress. After diagnosis, a personal program is built for each child that starts with physical fitness and progresses to work on literacy, anxiety and behavior. The program may include exercise, yoga, dance, or music. Some children need vision therapy, speech therapy, or occupational therapy. Each child attends Kidum Tifkudim at least twice a week, for a period of up to three years. Simultaneously, the parents are given some training so that they can work with the children at home. We are proud of our 90% success rate. Results are not instantaneous, but after about three months parents and teachers already notice a change in the behavior and abilities of the child.
