Jindas works to boost social mobility and secure the economic, physical, and community resilience of marginalized communities in Israel’s socio-geographic periphery through a combined approach that brings together housing, community services and social programming. Established in 2012, Jindas applies a unique, comprehensive approach towards boosting social mobility by adapting the model developed by the McCormack Baron Salazar Development Company that has transformed over 200 neighborhoods in the US over the past 50 years. Our work includes 1) advancing the construction of new, affordable (rental and ownership), and durable housing, 2) promoting the renewal/construction of public facilities, spaces, and services, and 3) providing a wide range of social mobility programs for families and the community and strengthening local leadership and activism. Jindas is currently active in six cities – Lod, Ofakim, Migdal HaEmek, Haifa, Ashkelon and Hatzor and directly impacts 800 families and an additional 2,400 families indirectly. By 2032, the organization will have provided social programming to 13,000 beneficiaries in eight neighborhoods leading to a $35M increase in available income for families and creating a $90M increase in property value through the construction of 4,000 new apartments.
