The Choreographers Association is an umbrella organization, bringing together 80 choreographers who are the leading voices in independent dance in Israel. The association’s goal is to encourage the creation of original and quality work, to improve the status of dance in Israel, to expand the audience of dance lovers and to enable and promote the presentation of the association’s members’ work anywhere in Israel and abroad. The association works to improve working conditions and the well-being of choreographers in Israel, through dialogues with governmental and artistic institutions. The Associations’ choreographers and artists’ activities are diverse both in nature and in reach. These include: performances, training, scholarly work, educational initiatives, community work, curation of initiatives, residencies and more. These take place all across Israel as well as abroad. The association locates support directed at extending dance’s reach to the periphery, it oversees all submissions and applications to governmental support from the Israeli Ministry of Culture (where applicable), and offers mentorship to young artists on production and management.
