Programmatic/social activities – We sponsor periodic educational lectures on various topics of interest both in Dutch and in Hebrew, tours and hikes, and an annual ‘family day’ event of recent and old immigrants during the holiday of Sukkot. In addition, we will be able to coordinate periodic get-togethers among members from all four branches to mix in a pleasant social setting. This will afford members the chance to meet with old friends and acquaintances from their original homes abroad, who otherwise may not have the means to do so. Also, this budget will sponsor The Rudolph Cleveringa Lecture, an annual lecture in memory of Rudolph Cleveringa, a Professor of Commercial Law and Civil Law at Leiden University and the recipient of the American government Medal of Freedom for his resistance work. Financial assistance fund – This fund will be utilized to help our members, their children and grandchildren. Each individual or family?s needs will be assessed and funds will be distributed to help bridge an important gap in their financial, mental, and health status. New Immigrant Absorption – We will cover the cost of the absorption coordinator and related expenses. This individual will act as a central information clearinghouse for those who are seeking a smooth transition into Israeli society.
