The International Award for Young People – Israel is a non-profit organization (No.580092120) recognized by the Ministry of Education as a national Youth Organisation since 2015 and by the Ministry of Defense as a Year of Service (Shinshinim) body since 2019. Driven by a vision to develop community resilience and mutual responsibility in Israeli society, this national operator of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award partners with local authorities nationwide to reach more than 4,000 diverse participants aged 14 to 24 each year, with a strong focus on geographic and social peripheries. Operating as informal education, each local branch opens at least twice a week during afternoon hours within local authorities, youth clubs, community centers, boarding schools, and schools to deliver free-time personal and community development activities across sports, skill-building, community involvement, and adventurous journeys. To empower young people with the practical 21st-century skills needed to grow into confident community leaders, every participant is paired with a coordinator and an adult mentor who guides their self-directed goals, group meetings, journeys, training seminars, and volunteering efforts.
