Huntington Association in Israel

The primary goals of the Huntington’s Organization in Israel are to break the ring of solitude that engulfs Huntington’s patients and their families, to raise awareness of the disease and to shatter the common stigmas and myths concerning the disorder. The Huntington’s Organization in Israel is a registered non-profit organization. In Israel today there are approximately 700 individuals who have Huntington’s (statistically 1 in every 10,000 births). Activities – Counselling, guidance and support by qualified professional social workers for patients and their families. – Connecting and directing individuals to sources of treatment including assistance in attaining their rights. – Advising and accompanying patients and their families during the process of transferring an individual from home care to institutional care. – Promoting knowledge of the disease among decision makers, professionals, and the public at large with an emphasis on the fields of health and social services and regional authorities. – Organizing activities for young people in families of people with Huntington’s. – Organizing conferences for families. – Producing and disseminating digital information sheets concerning the latest research on Huntington’s. – Representing Huntington’s at Israeli and international bodies such as The Society for Patients’ Rights in Israel, the Coalition of Rare Diseases in Israel, European Huntington’s Disease Network, European Hematology Association. The activities of the Huntington’s organization in Israel are funded solely on donations. All services are provided on a voluntary basis including the administration of the organization and the professional, veteran social workers. There are no salaried staff.
