Founded in 1984, the RCC Sharon is dedicated to serving survivors of sexual violence through the provision of practical and emotional support, and to ending sexual assault in Israel by means of preventative education and social awareness. Programming encompasses 24-hour crisis intervention through a telephone and chat hotlines, confidential counseling, support groups, victim advocacy and community wide education and training programs. The RCC Sharon is the only sexual assault crisis center in the Sharon region that provides comprehensive and free services, currently not provided by government or public agencies. We also help survivors’ non-offending acquaintances, family and partners to cope with the secondary trauma. In the past two years, the number of clients approaching RCC Sharon has significantly climbed due to our awareness raising activities, an online chat service, which we introduced to facilitate access to new audiences, and heightened public discourse about sexual assault in general. Furthermore, RCC Sharon has become a knowledge resource for law enforcement, healthcare providers, social workers, school personnel and other allied professionals.
