Humans and Animals in Mutual Assistance (HAMA) is committed to the healing of human violence to people and animals alike through AAT (Animal Assisted Therapy) in cooperation with public social welfare agencies, hospitals, and educational institutions. The unique and mutual bonding between human and animal welfare is the cornerstone of HAMA’s philosophy and activities. HAMA has been particularly active in working people of all ages suffering from PTSD and with children and families dealing with ADHD and associated behavioral and emotional disorders, which are often accompanied by developmental/ learning disabilities. In addition, HAMA provides a permanent home and refuge for elderly service dogs that have been replaced by younger dogs and also trains student interns in AAT through supervised fieldwork and teaching at the Megid Institute of Hebrew University.
