The Supportive Community Program This program provides a solution for seniors who desire to continue living in their homes and grow older in a familiar environment. Members are offered several friendly services which strive to provide life quality, security and independence. –Supportive Community “House Fathers”: Each “Supportive Community” has a “House Father” who knows all the members and has frequent contact with them. The “House Father” helps the members with basic everyday problems, like taking care of minor maintenance issues in their apartments, and for more complex issues a relevant specialist is contacted. The “House Father” is the first contact in addressing a need for help. –Security Button Watch (Immediate contact in case of emergency): “Supportive Community” members are given a special watch that is to be worn as a security button. When the security button is pressed, the member is immediately connected to a call center which connects the member with services as needed: medical and ambulance services, the Supportive Community “House Father”, the police and fire department, or family members. –Medical Services: Several medical services are made available to the members of the “Supportive Community” for a small fee, including 24/7 home visits by doctors and ordering an ambulance in case of emergency, with a doctor’s order. –Social Activities: The “Supportive Community” members enjoy a variety of special social activities based on their needs. These activities include trips, social and cultural events. –Volunteers: Members of the “Supportive Community” are helped by volunteers that assist the professional staff in a variety of areas, for example, weekly visits to members who are bedridden.
