Gallop was established with the purpose of advancing special populations through a groundbreaking method that enables patients to attain extraordinary accomplishments on the path to their own independence. The association was founded by former soldiers of elite units and senior professionals in the Israeli economy. The activities take place at a therapeutic horse ranch in Kfar Shmuel, using the open space method developed by Dr. Ofer Komarovsky. The open space method promotes a perceptional change by which the patient?s ?limitation? is actually his or her power and spark. Through this method, the Gallop Association brings forth personal, community, and social change based on four unique elements: 1. Natural open spaces with animals. 2. Activities which enable an integration of people from different backgrounds. 3. Athletic horseback riding alongside therapeutic horseback riding, which enables integration between various populations. 4. The existence of a supportive and accepting community. The Association specializes in four main areas: 1. Therapy through horseback riding and the development of unique treatment methods. 2. Taking care of youth at risk. 3. Activation of an employment, rehabilitation, and training center for autistic people. 4. Rehabilitation for graduates who have lost their way. During the year the association takes care of approximately 200 kids, adolescents and adults which arriving for their weekly or daily session, the patients come from schools, boarding schools, social services and also independently.
