Eliya- Association for Blind and Visually Impaired Children

ELIYA is the only Israeli nonprofit organization specializing in early intervention for infants, toddlers and preschool children with blindness and visual impairments. For more than four decades, ELIYA has provided professional, multidisciplinary services designed to address the developmental consequences of limited or absent vision during the critical first years of life. ELIYA currently serves approximately 150 children aged 0-6 and their families in five centers across the country: Petach Tikva, Jerusalem, Rechovot, Beer Sheva and Kfar HaMaccabi. Services are provided to children from diverse geographic, socioeconomic, religious and cultural backgrounds. ELIYA’s objective is to maximize each child’s functional abilities during the period in which early intervention can have the greatest developmental impact. By addressing visual, motor, communicative, emotional and social development collectively, ELIYA seeks to provide children with the skills and foundations necessary for greater independence and successful inclusion in society. Over 90% of children who graduate from ELIYA at the age of 6 go on to integrate into the regular educational system, and, subsequently, into the broader community.
