The Yanabiya initiative (meaning “springs” in Arabic) was established by Dr. Mohammed Alnabari, with the objective of driving the aforementioned shift, raising the current, linear graph of improvements the government is leading in the Bedouin community and making it exponential yet sustainable. The purpose of the initiative is to eliminate the gaps across a range of socioeconomic metrics between the Bedouin community in the Negev and the rest of Arab-Israeli society. Upon reaching this goal, the initiative will work to minimize the gap between the Bedouin community in the Negev and wider Israeli society. These are undoubtedly ambitious targets, however the ability of the Negev to continue to thrive for all its residents depends on their successful completion.
