Druze Veterans Association

The Druze Education and Leadership Project was developed with the support of the Forum of Hi-Tech Leadership – a collective body of hi-tech CEO’s. It includes university scholarships, leadership and empowerment workshops, as well as hi-tech internships and mentorship with firm CEO’s. This year, there are ten participants in the program and we expect to double the number in the upcoming academic year. The Young Mothers Education Initiative (30+), mostly made of young Druze mothers, have the intelligence and the will to pursue university degrees and top level employment opportunities. However, lack of acceptance and prerequisites, together with Druze cultural expectations of women, limits them from achieving the desired education. This project, together with Haifa University, Druze local councils, and women’s empowerment organizations, provides young Druze mothers with the emotional, communal, and financial support they need, to attend university. The project, Government Integration Employment Initiative, provides a solution for the short-term, immediate need for employment after army service. It means that, from the start, young people in the Druze community can start working and developing their employment skills and saving for higher-level education. The DVA can help young Druze to obtain access to entry-level jobs that do not require prior training, or that offer basic training on the job when hiring veterans. The DVA has built a network of organizations, including the Israeli Aviation Authority, its CEO has shown personal commitment to help integrating the best of the Druze workforce into his companies. University Scholarships: Our goal is to distribute 20 university scholarships for Druze students who are academically eligible for university scholarships but cannot attend due to financial constraints. Promotion of High Level Employment: We partner with companies and government organizations to raise awareness of Druze social discrimination and to promote entry into the employment sector through national job fairs. Awareness and Media Campaigns: We campaign nationally and internationally to further equality for Druze youth. Your support and contribution we help the DVA achieve its immediate and near or far future goals and objectives.
