Closing Ranks was founded about a decade ago by IDF officers and combat soldiers, led by Major General (Res.) Doron Almog. Maj. Gen. (Res.) Almog served as the organization’s chair from its inception until his appointment as Chair of the Jewish Agency, alongside Lt. Gen. (Res.) Benny Gantz and MK Alon Schuster. We support and guide at-risk young adults from Israel’s social, economic, and geographic periphery, who lack a supportive family network, during the critical transition after their military or national service. Our support focuses on helping them move into independent adulthood a particularly challenging stage in the absence of positive role models. The organization operates nationwide, from Kiryat Shmona in the north to Yeruham in the south. In the current year, we have accompanied approximately 250 young men and women. Since our founding, we have supported over 1,500 young adults with the help of 1,500 mentors.
