CIMI supports Israel’s most vulnerable migrant populations while also trying to enhance Israel’s capacity to manage migration in a manner that befits international standards and the dignity of migrants. CIMI operates in several fields, carrying out activities related to asylum seekers, migrants workers, victims of trafficking, returning migrants, unaccompanied minors and others. CIMI also carries out trainings and other capacity building activities for various authorities and individuals that come into contact with migrants. These activities are geared towards Israeli government officials and other institutions on migration management issues, especially on human trafficking – to promote the effective identification and referral of victims and to increase the cultural understanding of officials working with this population. For migrants that wish to return to their home countries, CIMI operates an Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration program (AVRR) in partnership with International Organization for Migration (IOM). This program targets vulnerable migrants that have a safe place and support network to return to, and provides them with reintegration counselling and a financial grant to further their reintegration.
