Founded in 1969, Care for the Needy of Jerusalem, with the help of only volunteers, aid the needy of the city and support families in distress. Monthly aid payments are given to families (widows, divorcees, and orphans) to help with education, rent, groceries, etc. Medical aid is given to assist with paying for dental work, hearing aids, eyeglasses, surgery, and to support the disabled and elderly. The organization helps with the recuperation of mothers and newborns, finding employment, planning a family budget. Special projects have included distributing special aid to families before Passover and the High Holidays, providing a central Seder for singles and those without families, establishing summer camps, and providing basic necessities to the needy.
