Bikurim is an Israeli nonprofit organization that improves the emotional well-being of hospitalized patients by creating a culture of volunteer patient visitation across Israel. Working in partnership with hospital management, Bikurim mobilizes volunteers of all ages to provide companionship, distribute personal gifts and refreshments, and bring moments of joy to patients and their families, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background. Bikurim engages thousands of volunteers annually, including high school students, National Service participants, and employees from partner organizations, through structured and supervised programs that complement medical care. Special initiatives support injured soldiers and civilians, promote unity and remembrance, and develop youth leadership through meaningful service. By reducing loneliness, strengthening morale, and fostering social responsibility, Bikurim ensures that hospitalized patients are supported not only medically, but also emotionally. Since its founding in 2011, Bikurim has facilitated tens of thousands of patient visits each year, ensuring that no patient is left to face hospitalization alone.
