The synagogue has approximately 150 family members. Activities include Sabbath, holiday and weekday prayer services. There are regular classes and lectures on various subjects such as daily Talmud, Torah, the Prophets, and philosophy both in Hebrew and English. Social programs such as membership gatherings and tours are regularly sponsored. There are periodically family celebrations at the synagogue including circumcision ceremonies and bar or bat mitzvahs for the wider community. As an extension of the synagogue there is a charity fund which annually distributes approximately 250,000 NIS in response to requests through the regional welfare offices. The synagogue has been investing in expansion of the premises to accommodate the growth in membership. The area where the synagogue is situated, the Baka neighborhood of Jerusalem, has been growing. The synagogue is trying to meet the challenges of that growth to enable more local residents to enjoy the benefits of participation at Beit Knesset Emek Refaim.
