Bet Elzaraki is a children’s home for children who cannot live with their parent(s) because of abuse, neglect, or the parents are on drugs or alcohol or too ill to take care of their children. A main goal is to give the children a life as close to that of a regular family. A couple examples of this are that children go to public schools and shop for new clothes (where the home has been able to secure large discounts) so they don’t have to wear second-hand clothes. Another goal is to break the cycle so that the children of the children now at the home will not be living in one themselves. Currently there are almost 100 graduates with whom the home keeps in touch with by following their progress in their studies, in the army, in their professional and family lives. They support all of them, from sending care packages to them in the army to offering financial assistance with university tuition or when they get married.
