Beit Theresienstadt was established in memory of the Jewish Martyrs of Ghetto Theresienstadt. The building was erected in 1975 as a cultural facility including a museum, art exhibition hall, library, educational center, and archives holding an index of the 162,000 Jews from the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and other European countries, who were imprisoned in the Ghetto. The major objective is to preserve and document the history of the survivors and above all to teach and deliver the message of the unique story of Ghetto Theresienstadt through using educational and cultural activities at Beit Theresienstadt, seminars, publication of books, art catalogues, and the development of educational curricula. It also houses a unique collection of artwork created in the Ghetto.
