The amuta serves as the synagogue for the residents of Jerusalem’s Mekor Chaim neighborhood, providing daily prayer services as well as Sabbath and holiday services with multiple minyanim throughout the day. In addition to worship, the synagogue offers regular classes in Torah, Gemara, and Jewish thought, serving as a vibrant center for religious learning and community life. Hundreds of people visit the synagogue each day for prayer, study, and communal activities. The synagogue building is also a significant historic landmark, having served as a fortress during Israel’s War of Independence. The amuta is committed to preserving this important heritage through the renovation and expansion of the building, ensuring its historic character is maintained while providing the additional space needed to serve the growing religious and community needs of the Mekor Chaim neighborhood.
