Tzameret Arnona is a relatively new neighbourhood in Southern Jerusalem. During corona, we started an outdoor minyan and we currently make do with a hall in the school on the block for our daily tefilla. Our dream is to have a Synagogue of our own for daily tefilla and other events. The Jerusalem Municipality has allocated us land and we have submitted the building plans to the Jerusalem Municipality. The building plans were approved subject to the submission of minor changes which are currently being processed. We are currently raising funds for the construction of the Synagogue. We have a wide variety of programs for over 140 member families. There are youth programs, including tefilla on Shabbat morning and special programming on Purim. There are daily and weekly shiurim on contemporary topics, Gemara and Torah taught by members. In addition, we have monthly speakers from outside the community. Special programs for the entire community are held on Chanuka, Purim, Yom Yerushalayim, Yom Hazikaron, Yom Ha’atzmaut and Yom Hashoah. The chessed committee quietly helps support those sitting shiva or recovering after illness. The kehilla cooks for lone soldiers on a regular basis. The community consists of all ages, and the tefilla varies between nusach Ashkanaz and nusach Sefard.
