House of Wheels (Beit HaGalgalim) was established in 1979 and provides a range of services (social, educational, and supportive) for children and adults with impaired mobility, mainly due to cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. Through their five branches across Israel, these services present solutions to the shortage in extramural activities and lack of social structures that are appropriate for this population. Services include weekly workshops in which participants deal with issues concerning their disability, learn new skills and build friendships within the group; organized weekend outings full of social, cultural and educational activities; summer camps; a training and work placement program; and events for communities and schools that inform and educate them about disabled individuals.
