Athena fund promotes the empowerment of teachers in Israel by providing them with tools for self-fulfillment and professional advancement. Named after the Goddess of Wisdom in Greek mythology, Athena was founded by several prominent business leaders under the direction of President Uri Ben-Ari (CEO of UBA Ventures and former Executive VP of Ness Technologies). A non-profit organization established in 2006, Athena Fund is supported by donors from the philanthropic third sector in Israel and abroad, as well as by donors from the Israeli business sector. To date, Athena Fund has made great strides providing laptops, tablets and iPads, along with professional training, to some 30,200 school and kindergarten teachers in 182 local authorities across Israel. Athena continues to work on fully achieving it’s a goal of reaching every Israeli teacher by the year 2024. Recently Athena Fund started providing Immersive rooms called “ImagineBox” to schools in Israel in order to enabling teachers and students enjoying state of the art technology for better learning and to developing 21st century skills for the students. Athena Fund has been recognized globally for its success, including receiving a Special Consultative Status from the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) ,and receiving membership to the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE).
