Arevot ? Women Weaving Tradition is an organization committed to Jewish tradition and feminism, from the perspective of Sephardi-Mizrahi women in Israel. We believe that the Sephardi-Mizrahi heritage can serve as a model for a diverse and inclusive society rooted in values of social justice, moderation, peace, and solidarity. We seek to create a traditional feminism, combine study with action and be an influential force acting on social, religious, and political issues. Thanks to Arevot, women of diverse Jewish backgrounds and identities engage in the values and teachings of Sephardi tradition and make them relevant for today’s Israeli society. The women of Arevot are a vibrant and cohesive group of women leaders in various fields in Israeli society, who have come together to develop a feminist Jewish language loyal to tradition and committed to social justice .This language is a unique voice in the Jewish world that expresses a different feminism which stems from living tradition – Sephardi traditionist/masorti feminism. The category masorti or traditionist refers to a feminism rooted in the Sephardi-Mizrahi experience, both historical and contemporary.
