Our national service program serves over 2,000 youth, empowering them to serve their country and develop as the committed future generation of Israelis our country needs. However, we also believe in diversity and inclusion. That is why part of our focus is on specialized populations that require additional services to meet specific needs: Youth at Risk: 120 youth at risk, young women and men, are integrated into our national service program because they deserve the chance to grow and to rebuild. Some are high school dropouts, come from broken or impoverished homes, and some abused drugs and alcohol. In addition to national service, they receive personalized attention and work with our social workers and counselors, participating in empowerment workshops. Youth with Disabilities: Approximately 10% of our youth have disabilities: mental retardation, Down’s syndrome, and other challenges. They serve their country while receiving one-on-one guidance and participating in a full year of inclusive programming. Ethiopian Immigrants: This program serves 60 young Ethiopian women who have poor language and cultural skills, and who are likely to struggle socially and financially as adults. We contribute to social integration through inclusion in national service, guidance, high school equivalency classes, pre-college exam tutoring, and/or vocational training.
